I started out at the Actors Centre as a Provisional member. I completed the recommended and compulsory classes that my specific programme recommended and I was upgraded to full membership.
The Actors Centre is a wonderful environment for young working actors to continue learning their craft. You are surrounded by people who are equally as passionate and driven, and you not only learn heaps from the teachers but also from the fellow students. I rejected offers from drama schools as I felt I was getting much more by staying with my agent and carrying on at the actors centre.
I particularly enjoyed Meisner classes and after attending classes for only a couple of months I had an audition come through (my first since starting at the actors centre) The audition was for Hollyoaks, for Loretta, a short term character contracted for 3 months. I was over the moon to get the role, and a year later, I am chuffed to still be here as a regular character and continue to love my job. I still come down to London for Meisner classes at the Actors Centre as and when I can fit it around my filming schedule in Liverpool. There are always so many things to learn. |
